Engraving and Print Workshop @ Sinop

Güngör, Nil and Maria began working on the “For the Love of Bee!’’ project to amplify that majestic sound of bees that is often heard only as a subtle whizz.
Inspired by the collaboration and solidarity among the hive, they organized their first participatory art project together at Sinopale 6, the International SInop Biennial, between 26-30 August 2017.
Children between the ages 6 and 10 depicted what they have learned in drawings, a medium to consolidate their acquired knowledge.
Throughout the program, children were accompanied by a group of young adults between the ages 20 and 25, who were coached by Prof. Melih Görgün and Maria Sezer on printing and engraving techniques. The young adults then collated the drawings of children and applied them to print.
At the end of the four days, six copies of a unique hand printed book on bees was collectively produced by a total of 40 participants aged between 6 to 25 years old. There were several local craftsmen consulted and included in the making process . The public workhop area allowed access to many and has formed a nesting place to start further converations on the topic

The workshop at the Sinopale sponsored by the Consulate General of the Netherlands has set out a model for a longer term project on the topic.
